Paperweight Le Chat Noir Steinlen

Author of the mythical "Black Cat poster", symbol of end-of-the-century Montmartre, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859–1923) remains unknown to the general public. Painter, engraver, illustrator, poster artist, sculptor, caricaturist, committed humanist... While waiting for 2023, the year of the centenary of his death, an intimate exhibition at the Château d'Auvers-sur-Oise pays tribute to the many facets of this artist with a big heart and outstanding lithographer

Reproductions and products derived from this lithograph (La Tournée du Chat noir, 1896) that tourists are still snapping up.

Behind his pointed ears, a red halo unfolds a twisted medieval war cry: "Montjoie Montmartre". A flamboyant banner to the glory of the Paris of artists!
